6 Easy Steps for Writing Clean Code: Tips for Beginners

April 30, 2025 by AndyHuang

This content provides a guideline for writing code without including line numbers before each line.

Why Writing Clean Code Matters?

We often encounter situations where the computer suddenly cannot connect to the Internet in our daily computer usage. This problem is very simple, and you can easily and quickly solve it by following the steps below for writing clean code.

How to Write Clean Code: 6 Easy Steps

Writing clean code means writing code that is easy to read, understand, and maintain. It doesn’t just work—it makes sense to other developers (and your future self). Here are some key practices to help you write clean code:

Step 1: Check if the network is running normally.

First, check if the router, modem, and other network devices are functioning properly, and if the indicator lights are normal. If the network is normal, then the issue is with the computer. If the network is not normal, it may be a problem with the network connection, so contact your network service provider for assistance.

Step 2: Check the Network Card Driver

Right-click on “Computer” — select “Properties” — open “Device Manager” — check if there is a yellow exclamation mark in Device Manager. If there is, it indicates a problem with the network card driver, and you need to install or update the network card driver. If you have a branded computer, it is recommended to download and install the official driver corresponding to your model from the official website.

Step 3: Restart the Network Card

If the computer still cannot connect after installing the driver, you can try restarting the network card to allow the computer to re-detect and obtain the network signal to resolve the issue. The method is as follows: Right-click on “Network” — select “Change adapter settings” on the left side — right-click on “Local Area Connection” and select “Disable” — then right-click again and select “Enable.”

Step 4: Check the Network Acquisition Method

If you still cannot connect to the network after the above steps, then you need to consider if it is a network settings issue. Similar to the third step, open “Local Area Connection,” right-click and select “Properties” — choose the properties of “Internet Protocol Version (TCP/IPv4)” — select the options for “Obtain an IP address automatically” and “Obtain DNS server address automatically.”

Step 5: Clear the DNS Cache

If you have followed the above four steps and still cannot connect to the network, it may be related to the DNS cache. In this case, try clearing the DNS cache. Open “Run,” type “CMD” in the run window to open the command prompt, and enter the command “ipconfig/flushdns.”

Step 6: Reset Winsock

In general, by the fifth step, the computer should be able to connect to the Internet. If your computer still cannot connect, you can try resetting the Winsock directory. Similar to the fifth step, open the “Command Prompt” and enter the command “netsh winsock reset,” then restart the computer as prompted.

The above settings are based on the WIN7 operating system. The operation methods for WIN10 are similar. For those with limited technical skills, you can use the repair tools provided by antivirus software. Generally, you can select “Tool Center” on the antivirus software main interface, find “Network Emergency Kit,” choose “Comprehensive Diagnosis,” then one-click repair, and restart the computer to resolve the issue.

Conclusion

Writing clean code is essential for creating software that is easy to read, maintain, and debug. This article provided six practical steps that beginners can follow to develop cleaner and more efficient code. From checking your environment and tools to using proper structure, naming conventions, and comments, each step plays a crucial role in improving code quality. By applying these foundational techniques, new programmers can build good coding habits early on and set themselves up for long-term success in their development journey.
